Duties and Responsibilities:

Doheny Library is seeking a respectful, and responsible, USC Work-Study student for employment.

Duties will primarily include but are not limited to the following: meticulous and thorough data processing of periodical materials.

This will consist of data processing and shelving as well as sorting. There will be a lot of movement of physical materials in bulk with a variation of weight.

Candidates must be able to work Saturdays. Must be able to work at least 12 Hours/week (hours can be spread out). 

Scheduling is flexible but please be mindful of consistent attendance due to project deadlines.

Job Qualifications:

Qualified candidates must be detail oriented with an eye for mistakes, and hybrid in their work function. The ideal candidate must have the ability to work efficiently, and problem solve with exceptional work ethic. Candidates should have the ability to competently learn and understand the library workflow systems. They must be open to receiving and providing feedback to their supervisor(s) as well as assisting with keeping ongoing procedures updated. Familiarity with Library of Congress classification system is desirable. Work-study is required.Candidates are expected to adhere to all USC health and safety protocols. Physical demands not limited to: Frequent computer/keyboard/mouse use; occasional repetitive motion; occasional climbing on step-stool; ability to see/hear/speak, stand/sit/balance; ability to occasionally lift/push/pull up to approximately 15-20 lbs.; simple grasping with left, right, or both hands; fine manipulation and flexion/extension and pinching with left, right, or both hands; reach above shoulder; bend/twist, turn or tilt at the neck/waist. Close visual acuity is required to perform activities such as: preparing and transcribing information; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
