Doheny Library is seeking a respectful, responsible, and punctual USC Work-Study student for employment.
Duties will primarily include, but are not limited to providing all patrons assistance with circulation duties. This entails checking materials in and out of the library, ensuring circulation policies, returning items, storing, shelving, and being meticulous with details.
In addition, the student worker providing access services is the first stop to a patrons search for guidance navigating the facility and the library catalog while providing satisfactory customer service.
Mandatory no exceptions:Candidates must be able to work at least three 9am morning shifts a week during their first semester, contingent on being rehired for additional semesters. Scheduling is flexible but please be mindful of communicating attendance to the supervisors when life happens.

Qualified candidates must be mindful as well as consistent with the mandatory morning shift schedule. The ideal candidate must have the ability to work efficiently, have a keen eye for detail to avoid making preventable mistakes and not be easily distracted. Candidates should have the ability to competently learn and understand the library workflow systems. They must be open to receiving and providing feedback to their supervisor(s) as well as assisting with keeping ongoing procedures updated. Familiarity with the Library of Congress classification system is desirable. Work-study is required.Candidates are expected to adhere to all USC health and safety protocols. Physical demands not limited to: Frequent computer/keyboard/mouse use; occasional repetitive motion; occasional climbing on step-stool; ability to see/hear/speak, stand/sit/balance; ability to occasionally lift/push/pull up to approximately 15-20 lbs.; simple grasping with left, right, or both hands; fine manipulation and flexion/extension and pinching with left, right, or both hands; reach above shoulder; bend/twist, turn or tilt at the neck/waist. Close visual acuity is required to perform activities such as: preparing and transcribing information; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
