Duties and Responsibilities:

Doheny Library is seeking an honest, respectful, and responsible USC Work-Study student for employment.

This is not a circulation desk postion.

Duties will primarily include, but are not limited to the following: meticulous data processing of monographs and serials. Sorting and inventorying East Asian Current Journals and other DML stacks materials. There will be plentiful movement of physical materials with variations of weight.

Candidates must be able to work a fixed schedule in the Morning and/or Afternoon between Monday-Friday during their first semester, contingent to being rehired for additional semesters. They must be able to work at least 8-10 Hours/week (hours can be spread out). There is flexibility in your fixed schedule, but please be mindful of consistent attendance due to project deadlines.

Job Qualifications:

Qualified candidates must be assiduous with an eye for mistakes, and adaptable. The ideal candidate must be an efficient communicator and teachable. Candidates should be eager learn and understand the library workflow systems.They must be open to receiving and providing feedback to their supervisor as well as assisting with keeping ongoing procedures updated. Familiarity with the Library of Congress classification system is desirable. Work-Study is required.Candidates are expected to adhere to all USC health and safety protocols. Physical demands not limited to: Frequent computer/keyboard/mouse use; occasional repetitive motion; occasional climbing on step-stool; ability to see/hear/speak, stand/sit/balance; ability to occasionally lift/push/pull up to approximately 15-20 lbs.; simple grasping with left, right, or both hands; fine manipulation and flexion/extension and pinching with left, right, or both  hands; reach above shoulder; bend/twist, turn or tilt at the neck/waist. Close visual acuity is required to perform activities such as: preparing and transcribing information; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
