NOTE:  this job posting is for shifts during non-graveyard hours (shifts anytime between 8am and midnight).  Graveyard shift (12am-8am) hiring is done under a separate job posting.  

Leavey Library Access Services Student Assistants help patrons at the circulation desk, assist full-time staff with technical processing tasks, and help maintain an organized collection of books.

Duties at the circulation desk include charging/discharging materials, updating patron records, and providing basic reference assistance.

Stacks duties include shelving, shelfreading, and organizing stacks. Other projects might include paging books and helping staff on other projects.

Technical processing tasks include data entry, DVD collection maintenance, book relabeling, assisting with processing reserves, and other tasks as assigned by staff supervisor.

Minimum $2,500 work-study funding (for whole academic year).  No exceptions. 

Delivering excellent customer service to Leavey Library patrons is a must, therefore students with strong communication skills and a willingness to help patrons are preferred. Cooperation with patrons, staff, and coworkers is required.  Meticulousness and attention to detail is required. Prompt attendance at all shifts is required.

Student employees are assigned a regular weekly shift schedule through the last day of final exams, and must work every shift in that schedule, or successfully arrange to trade shifts with a fellow student worker.  Travel plans to return to campus at beginning of semester and return home at the end of the semester must take this requirement into account.
