Duties at the LIPA Circulation Desk includes greeting patrons entering and exiting, discharging/charging materials, printing assistance, inventory scanning, and providing basic reference assistance (training will be provided). Bookstacks duties include, but not limited to: shifting, shelving, and shelf-reading. brary Supervisors and Librarians may assign other special projects as needed.
Physical demands: frequent computer/keyboard/mouse use; occasional repetitive motion; occasional climbing on step-stool; ability to see/hear/speak, stand/sit/balance; ability to occasionally lift/push/pull up to approximately 15-20 lbs.; simple grasping with left, right, or both hands; fine manipulation and flexion/extension and pinching with left, right, or both hands; reach above shoulder; bend/twist, turn or tilt at the neck/waist. Close visual acuity is required to perform activities such as: preparing and transcribing information; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. 

Library for International and Public Affairs (LIPA) is seeking reliable, customer-friendly student assistants to help patrons at the Circulation Desk. Other qualifications include assisting in maintaining an organized collection of books, journals, government documents, newspapers and reference materials. We are looking for student assistants who are proactive and willing to be flexible when the hours and assignments change. You must be able to work as a team. Student assistants are expected to adhere to USC health and safety protocols.
